TL;DR
Senior Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric): Building 12 production-ready data products and developing governed ETL/ELT pipelines across OneLake, Lakehouses, and Data Warehouses with an accent on PySpark, Delta Lake, and Medallion Architecture. Focus on implementing lineage, security, and governance through Microsoft Purview, reviewing platform readiness, and establishing engineering standards for a growing enterprise data platform.
Location: Wellington-based candidates only; immediate part-time start progressing to full-time work is preferred.
Salary: $110–$130 per hour.

is recruiting for a critical public sector data project focused on developing reliable, governed data products with Microsoft Fabric.
What you will do
- Build 12 production-ready data products from ingestion through business-ready datasets.
- Develop ETL/ELT pipelines with Microsoft Fabric, Dataflows Gen2, Fabric Pipelines, and PySpark notebooks.
- Apply Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medallion Architecture across OneLake, Lakehouses, and Data Warehouses.
- Implement data lineage, security, and governance with Microsoft Purview in collaboration with the Data Architect and Metadata Lead.
- Review platform readiness and establish practical engineering standards for future delivery.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience delivering solutions with Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong PySpark, T-SQL, and Python skills.
- Experience designing ingestion patterns and building Delta Lake data models.
- Ability to work within a complex enterprise environment.
- Must be based in Wellington, New Zealand.
Nice to have
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, Matillion, dimensional modelling, or public sector data projects.
