Senior Database Reliability Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; hybrid work model with 2 days working from home

What you will do

• Plan, manage, and scale datastores to meet platform requirements.
• Test backup and recovery processes and conduct regular database security audits.
• Automate manual database operations while protecting data integrity.
• Perform risk analysis and identify database challenges for optimization or automation.
• Collaborate with DevOps and team leaders to improve reliability, maintainability, testability, standardization, and system availability.
• Support developers with database-management guidance and participate in the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• Strong foundation in database design, implementation, and maintenance of RDBMSs.
• Ability to optimize database performance through query structuring and database engine tuning.
• Expertise in preventing database failures and handling recovery scenarios.
• Familiarity with Python, Git, and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Graphite, and Grafana.
