Cloud FinOps Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes): Building and operating cloud cost optimization practices across AWS, Kubernetes, data, and observability infrastructure with an accent on cost visibility, unit economics, and infrastructure efficiency. Focus on right-sizing workloads, optimizing data and observability pipelines, automating cost analysis in Terraform and GitOps workflows, and establishing FinOps processes from the ground up.

What you will do
- Own cloud cost as a key metric and define unit economics such as cost per tenant, gigabyte ingested, and environment.
- Build cost visibility through tagging and allocation standards, showback, budgets, anomaly detection, and dashboards.
- Identify and implement savings across compute right-sizing, Karpenter, Spot usage, commitment coverage, storage lifecycle policies, networking, data transfer, and idle resources.
- Optimize streaming ingestion, the data lake and warehouse, and the observability pipeline.
- Integrate cost estimates into pull requests and infrastructure-as-code reviews.
- Maintain infrastructure as code, GitOps delivery, and Kubernetes platform work; participate in on-call and partner with Engineering, Finance, and leadership on forecasting and capacity planning.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering with production AWS workloads.
- Strong Kubernetes experience, ideally EKS, including autoscaling and workload right-sizing.
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code practices in GitOps-style environments.
- Scripting or development experience with Go, Python, or a similar language.
- Proven ownership of cloud cost optimization initiatives with measurable results.
- Strong knowledge of AWS billing and cost management, including Cost Explorer, CUR, allocation tags, and commitment models; ability to work independently in a small, fast-moving team.
