Senior Designer for Components, Lighting & Exterior Experience (Automotive): Developing exterior components and automotive lighting solutions for advanced and production vehicle programmes with an accent on lighting identity, 3D development, technology integration, and production feasibility. Focus on creating day/night vehicle identities, resolving optical and packaging constraints, and maintaining design intent through engineering and supplier implementation.

Contract automotive design assignment supporting an Exterior Experience Design team and active vehicle programmes.

What you will do

  • Develop exterior component and lighting proposals for advanced and production vehicle programmes.
  • Create front and rear lighting concepts, including DRL signatures, position lamps, rear lamp graphics, and illuminated exterior elements.
  • Develop grilles, trims, technology bands, decorative elements, and integrated exterior details while maintaining vehicle and brand identity.
  • Translate 2D concepts into resolved 3D design solutions and guide development with CAS, Alias, Blender, visualisation, and physical modelling teams.
  • Integrate lighting technology, packaging, thermal, optical, regulatory, manufacturing, and supplier constraints into feasible designs.
  • Present design directions and collaborate with engineering, suppliers, manufacturing, and Sweden- and China-based stakeholders.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in automotive exterior design.
  • Proven experience with automotive exterior components and/or automotive lighting design.
  • Experience in an automotive OEM, advanced design studio, or recognised automotive design consultancy.
  • Experience developing designs from early ideation through detailed 3D and production-oriented development.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exterior component design capability, design maturity, and understanding of lighting’s role in vehicle identity.
  • Experience collaborating with automotive engineers, digital modellers, lighting specialists, and suppliers.
