AI Data Engineer Consultant (AI/Data Engineering): Building production-ready AI-powered data pipelines and customer-facing solutions that transform structured and unstructured data into business-ready outputs with an accent on LLM orchestration, RAG architectures, and scalable data engineering. Focus on designing intelligent workflows, integrating AI-driven backends with web interfaces, and optimizing relational and vector databases for enterprise-scale use.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya. The requisition is for future project requirements and talent pipeline development; the description also references work supporting North America.

What you will do
- Design and implement AI-powered pipelines for extracting, cleaning, enriching, and transforming structured and unstructured data.
- Orchestrate large language models to automate data manipulation, validation, and cross-referencing.
- Generate customer-ready Excel, PDF, Word, and other business documents programmatically.
- Prototype emerging AI tools and convert proofs of concept into scalable production solutions.
- Build and integrate full-stack applications connecting AI-driven backends with modern web interfaces.
- Design and optimize relational and vector databases while contributing to code quality and maintainable system design.
Requirements
- University degree in environmental sciences, information technology, computer science, engineering, management information systems, theoretical business, or a related technical field.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in AI data engineering or an EHS-related field.
- Hands-on experience with large language models, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, or open-source equivalents.
- Strong knowledge of embeddings, vector search, semantic similarity, RAG architectures, Python, SQL, relational data modeling, and performance optimization.
- Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar orchestration frameworks; programmatic document generation; and production API development with FastAPI, .NET, or Node.js.
- Knowledge of EHS software, methodologies, and domains is advantageous but not required.
Nice to have
- Frontend development experience with Vue 3 Composition API and TypeScript.
- Experience with vector databases, AI-oriented data storage, containerization, cloud platforms, or serverless architectures.
- Background in NLP, document intelligence, or data enrichment pipelines.
- Experience with monorepo and large-scale project tooling such as Turborepo or Nx.
