Engineering Director (Fintech)

Location: São Paulo, Brazil; hybrid work model with regular office presence expected

What you will do

• Recruit, lead, and scale multiple engineering teams while building a culture of ownership, collaboration, speed, and technical excellence.
• Coach senior engineers, develop engineering leaders, and strengthen the organization’s talent pipeline.
• Shape technical strategy and engineering roadmaps in partnership with Product and business leaders.
• Drive delivery of high-impact products while balancing speed, quality, reliability, and long-term technical investments.
• Raise standards across architecture, scalability, security, observability, and engineering practices.
• Identify and lead AI opportunities across products and engineering workflows, including evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, reliability, and responsible deployment.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including work with complex production systems.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, ideally leading multiple teams in parallel.
• Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering organizations in fast-growing technology companies.
• Strong foundation in distributed systems, cloud architectures, APIs, microservices, data systems, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with high-scale, highly available systems, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD, and observability.
• Professional fluency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, lending, banking, cards, expense management, or financial infrastructure.
• Experience working in regulated environments or scaling organizations through rapid growth.
• Experience with AI/ML-enabled products, LLMs, agentic systems, AI evaluation, guardrails, or AI-assisted engineering workflows.
• Experience with fraud, risk, credit, decisioning, or automation systems.
• Spanish and/or Portuguese proficiency.
