Engineering Director (AI) (Fintech): Leading and scaling multiple engineering teams building reliable financial infrastructure and B2B payments products with an accent on technical strategy, distributed systems, security, and AI-native product development. Focus on developing engineering leaders, driving high-scale execution, and establishing reliable evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, and responsible deployment for AI-powered systems.
Location: Mexico City, Mexico; hybrid work model with regular office presence

What you will do
- Lead and scale multiple engineering teams while building a high-performance culture.
- Coach senior engineers, develop engineering leaders, and strengthen the leadership pipeline.
- Shape engineering strategy and roadmaps with Product and business leaders.
- Drive delivery while balancing speed, quality, reliability, security, and long-term technical investment.
- Raise standards across architecture, scalability, observability, data integrity, auditability, and engineering practices.
- Identify and deliver AI opportunities across products and engineering workflows, including evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, and responsible deployment.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience and significant experience operating complex production systems.
- 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including leading multiple teams.
- Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering organizations in fast-growing technology companies.
- Strong foundation in distributed systems, cloud architectures, APIs, microservices, data systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with high-scale, highly available systems, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD, and observability.
- Professional fluency in English and availability for the hybrid Mexico City work model.
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, lending, banking, cards, expense management, or regulated environments.
- Experience with LLMs, AI-powered products, agentic systems, AI evaluation, guardrails, or AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Experience with fraud, risk, credit, decisioning, or automation systems.
- Spanish and/or Portuguese proficiency.
