Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Camera Model)

Location: Montreal, Canada, or remote within Canada

Salary: $168,000–$193,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy deep learning models for camera-based perception, including object detection, segmentation, depth estimation, and scene understanding.
• Own end-to-end model development from data curation and training through evaluation and deployment.
• Build production-quality training, evaluation, and inference pipelines for large-scale machine learning workloads.
• Analyze performance across diverse driving scenarios, identify failure modes, and improve model robustness and generalization.
• Collaborate with data, perception, simulation, infrastructure, and validation teams to improve datasets and integrate models into the autonomy stack.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, tooling, workflows, and technical discussions while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of industry experience, master’s degree with 3+ years, or PhD with 1+ years in a relevant technical field.
• Experience developing and deploying deep learning models for computer vision or perception systems.
• Strong Python and PyTorch programming skills and experience writing production-quality machine learning code.
• Experience training and evaluating models with large-scale datasets and distributed computing environments.
• Knowledge of modern deep learning architectures, including CNNs, transformers, and multi-task models.
• Ability to debug model behavior, analyze performance metrics, improve reliability, and deliver solutions independently.

Nice to have

• Experience in autonomous driving, robotics, or simulation-based machine learning.
• Experience with multi-task learning, unified perception architectures, Ray, or experiment management frameworks.
• Familiarity with camera calibration, geometric reasoning, BEV, monocular depth, or structure-from-motion.
• Experience deploying machine learning models into production or real-world robotics systems.
