Location: Auckland, New Zealand; office-first and on-site by default, with flexibility when needed

What you will do
- Set and evolve external relations strategy across regulatory and market access, reputation and narrative, and policy and advocacy.
- Engage regulators and shape virtual fencing and animal welfare rules to secure approvals for expansion into new markets.
- Own media, public relations, corporate storytelling, and responses to high-stakes issues.
- Build and maintain senior relationships with regulators, officials, industry leaders, and journalists.
- Lead and develop the distributed External Relations team across New Zealand, Australia, and the US.
- Partner with Commercial, Product, Legal, Customer, and Executive teams to connect growth plans with regulatory realities.
Requirements
- Experience building or leading an external relations, government affairs, public affairs, or corporate communications function during rapid growth or international expansion.
- Experience engaging regulators and shaping policy across multiple markets, particularly New Zealand, Australia, and/or the US.
- Background in agriculture, agtech, hardware, or another regulated, high-growth industry.
- Track record of managing high-stakes issues, media moments, and reputational risk.
- Strong regulatory and policy literacy, communication, storytelling, political judgement, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience leading a senior distributed team while remaining hands-on in strategy and execution.
