TL;DR
Cybersecurity Engineer (CBP) (Cybersecurity/Operational Technology): Supporting the integration, authorization, operation, and sustainment of complex CBP operational technology and mission systems with an accent on vulnerability management, incident response, risk assessment, and RMF activities. Focus on translating mission requirements into secure architectures, assessing vulnerabilities and mission risk, supporting ATO documentation, and coordinating remediation across engineering and program teams.

Location: Ashburn, VA (onsite). Travel requirement: less than 10%. Existing DHS EOD or DHS Suitability is required.

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Support the integration, deployment, authorization, and sustainment of complex operational technology and mission systems.
  • Translate mission, operational, and system requirements into actionable cybersecurity requirements and secure architectures.
  • Identify, analyze, prioritize, track, and remediate vulnerabilities across applications, infrastructure, networks, and operational technology environments.
  • Support incident identification, investigation, containment, remediation, recovery, exercises, and post-incident analysis.
  • Support RMF activities, ATO processes, continuous monitoring, cybersecurity assessments, and authorization documentation.
  • Advise engineering, software, infrastructure, operations, cybersecurity, and program teams on risk-informed technical decisions.

Requirements

  • Onsite work in Ashburn, Virginia.
  • Existing DHS EOD or DHS Suitability.
  • Strong experience in vulnerability management, incident response, and cybersecurity engineering.
  • Working knowledge of RMF, ATO processes, cybersecurity requirements, and mission or operational technology environments.
  • Experience assessing vulnerabilities, security risks, attack surfaces, system architectures, and mission impact.
  • Ability to communicate cybersecurity risks and recommended actions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
