Principal Software Engineer - Search Infra - Elasticsearch

Location: Romania

Salary: 326,400–516,400 RON base salary; no variable compensation.

What you will do

• Define, lead, and contribute to the evolution of hirify.globalsearch’s core search and indexing capabilities.
• Set technical vision and direction for indexing, retrieval, query execution, and relevance layers.
• Research advances in search infrastructure, data structures, and retrieval algorithms.
• Partner with product teams and engineers across the organization to shape the long-term technical roadmap.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert for hirify.globalsearch domains and mentor experienced engineers.
• Design and build robust, scalable, high-performance software for large-scale search systems.

Requirements

• Experience leading technical projects in search infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with hirify.globalsearch, Lucene, Solr, or comparable search and indexing technologies.
• Strong Java skills, including advanced data structures, concurrency constructs, lambdas, and algorithm optimization.
• Experience defining technical vision for core search or retrieval systems and collaborating across teams.
• Experience mentoring expert engineers and guiding projects from concept through completion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of autonomy.

Nice to have

• Experience building products with hirify.globalsearch and understanding search and information retrieval theory.
• Experience with open-source projects, source-control workflows, and continuous integration.
