TL;DR
Human Resources Coordinator (Humanitarian) (HR operations and compliance): Coordinating recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, learning and development, and workforce reporting across Mozambique Country and Area Offices with an accent on local labour legislation, confidential records, and multi-location HR service delivery. Focus on supporting visa and work permit processes, performance management, audits, employee wellbeing, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Location: Pemba, Mozambique; onsite role supporting Country and Area Offices

What you will do

  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, contracts, staff movements, probation periods, renewals, and separation processes.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential personnel records, HR databases, documentation, and workforce reports.
  • Support employee relations, grievance handling, disciplinary processes, performance management, and employee development.
  • Coordinate induction, mandatory training, learning and development activities, and related compliance records.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, benefits, leave administration, workplace practices, and employee enquiries.
  • Support work permit, visa, travel, accommodation, audit, labour compliance, wellbeing, and diversity and inclusion activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, Law, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive HR management experience, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian environment.
  • Experience across recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, HRIS, and employee records management.
  • Strong knowledge of Mozambican labour legislation, the local labour market, and the legal and socio-cultural context of Mozambique.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with work permit, immigration, and visa processes, plus strong planning, communication, confidentiality, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting field-based or multi-location HR operations.
  • Knowledge of local languages spoken in Cabo Delgado.
  • Experience with training facilitation and capacity building.
