Backend Developer (Kotlin, Fintech)

Location: Kazakhstan

Salary: EUR 1,200–2,500 gross per month, depending on experience, location, and professional growth.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain microservices for a next-generation business banking mobile application.
• Design backend architecture from scratch and implement new product features.
• Optimize PostgreSQL queries and database performance.
• Configure monitoring, logging, alerting, and production observability.
• Manage deployments and infrastructure, and support migration from the legacy platform.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor other developers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong Kotlin and Java expertise, including coroutines, Flow, collections, generics, and JVM internals.
• Advanced experience with Spring Framework, PostgreSQL, SQL, Kafka, REST API design, Docker, and Git.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, scalability, fault tolerance, SOLID, GoF patterns, and DDD basics.
• Experience with testing using JUnit or Kotest, MockK, and Testcontainers.
• English at Intermediate+ level or above.

Nice to have

• Experience with Liquibase or Flyway, WebFlux, Spring Security, Redis, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of distributed transactions, database scaling, event-driven architecture, and distributed tracing.
• Experience with contract testing, Camunda BPM, or similar workflow platforms.
• Background in fintech or banking systems.
