TL;DR
Software Engineer Level III (Java) (Java/Spring Boot/Microservices): Developing and maintaining scalable software applications and backend services for insurance and reinsurance systems with an accent on Java development, API integration, database performance, and high availability. Focus on designing microservices, solving production issues, managing engineering risks, and building reliable systems across the full software development lifecycle.

What you will do
- Analyze, design, code, test, debug, and support software applications for business operations.
- Build and enhance applications, microservices, APIs, and database-backed systems using Java and Spring Boot.
- Translate stakeholder requests and system specifications into design documents, source code, test scripts, and test results.
- Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, architects, and Agile teams on software delivery and architecture alignment.
- Track engineering risks, coordinate project dependencies, and resolve production issues within support processes and SLAs.
- Contribute to product roadmaps, estimates, engineering standards, documentation, and development guidelines.
Requirements
- At least 3–5 years of software development experience, including Java development; a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is typically expected.
- Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, SQL/T-SQL, shell scripting, Windows, Linux, IIS, Tomcat, and JBoss.
- Experience with scalable, high-availability backend database technologies, primarily SQL Server.
- Experience building microservices with Spring Boot and building and consuming APIs.
- Knowledge of frontend development, including Bootstrap, jQuery, accessibility, responsive layouts, and UI/UX.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills are required.
Nice to have
- Experience with MongoDB, Redis, or Memcached.
- Experience with insurance or reinsurance systems and data.
- Knowledge of Power BI, SSRS, Chef, Puppet, Salt, Octopus Deploy, Jenkins, SSIS, or Visio.
- Experience with Agile development, source code management, production support, incident management, and problem management.
