TL;DR
Systems Engineer - Mid (Snowflake/Databricks): Managing and optimizing cloud data platforms and pipelines for enterprise analytics and AI/ML workloads with an accent on performance, security, governance, and cost efficiency. Focus on building resilient multi-platform operations, implementing disaster recovery and replication, and solving complex production incidents across Snowflake, Databricks, and Azure.

What you will do
- Manage and optimize Snowflake and Databricks environments, including performance tuning, cost controls, workload isolation, and scaling.
- Build and maintain data pipelines with Databricks, Snowflake Streams and Tasks, and Azure Data Factory.
- Implement security, governance, disaster recovery, replication, backup, and archival strategies across data platforms.
- Support data engineers, data scientists, BI teams, and architects with scalable data models, integrations, and reporting.
- Provide production support, incident response, and root-cause analysis for cross-platform data issues.
- Evaluate platform capabilities such as Snowflake Native Apps and Databricks Unity Catalog to improve governance and automation.
Requirements
- Hands-on administration experience with Snowflake, including warehouse management, query tuning, clustering, caching, cost governance, Time Travel, and replication.
- Hands-on Databricks administration covering workspaces, clusters, SQL Warehouses, jobs, policies, workload isolation, and Unity Catalog.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL, connectivity, authentication, monitoring, and Entra ID integration.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting with Python and/or PowerShell.
- Knowledge of RBAC, encryption, auditing, masking, data lineage, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience; typically 5–7+ years in data platforms, database administration, or software engineering.
Nice to have
- Experience with additional Azure services and awareness of AI services relevant to platform administration.
- Strong documentation skills covering SOPs, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and disaster recovery plans.
