Senior iOS Engineer (Digital Design System)

Location: Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom; hybrid, with 60% of the week spent at office locations or local sites and the remainder remotely.

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and evolve reusable Tesco Digital Design System components for iOS.
• Translate design intent, tokens, component states, and interaction guidance into production-ready iOS implementations.
• Improve developer experience through documentation, examples, onboarding, contribution guidance, support, and migration tooling.
• Collaborate with design, accessibility, product engineering, and platform peers across iOS, Android, React Native, and Web.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools, Figma, MCP integrations, and agentic cloud workflows where they improve quality, consistency, or developer self-service.
• Provide technical leadership through architectural decisions, code reviews, mentoring, pragmatic delivery, and clear communication.

Requirements

• Senior iOS platform engineering experience.
• Experience building reusable UI foundations, component APIs, test coverage, and production-quality mobile implementations.
• Strong understanding of accessibility, documentation, release discipline, and developer experience.
• Ability to collaborate with design, accessibility, product engineering, and platform teams.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement with regular presence at office locations or local sites.
