Lead Android Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City, United States; On-site

Salary: $250,000–$315,000 base salary annually, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Build and launch hirify.global’s first native Android application from the ground up.
• Define the Android architecture, technology stack, engineering patterns, and development standards.
• Establish practices for testing, security, performance, observability, releases, and code quality.
• Partner with product, design, engineering, customers, and Customer Success to shape AI-powered financial workflows for mobile.
• Integrate AI platform and backend services into a responsive native experience, including reusable foundations for future scale.
• Own major features end-to-end and help hire, mentor, and establish the technical bar for future Android engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Strong command of Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and the Android SDK.
• Experience building and launching high-quality Android applications, including foundational architecture and technology decisions.
• Deep knowledge of Android application architecture, lifecycle management, Kotlin coroutines, Flow, concurrency, threading, and performance optimization.
• Experience designing reusable, testable components and reliable, secure, privacy-conscious production applications.
• Ability to operate with ambiguity, make strong product decisions, and turn an open-ended opportunity into a shipped product.

Nice to have

• Experience taking an Android app or major mobile product from zero to one.
• Early mobile engineering experience at a fast-growing startup.
• Experience with Java, RxJava, Dagger or Hilt, REST APIs, gRPC, WebSockets, or Server-Sent Events.
• Experience with offline functionality, local persistence, background processing, push notifications, and enterprise mobile-device-management environments.
• Experience building secure applications for sensitive enterprise data and strong interest in AI-powered professional workflows.
