Software Engineer II (AI/Java)

Salary: CAD 87,000–109,000 base salary per year

What you will do

• Design, build, refactor, and extend cloud services and microservices for the property and casualty insurance domain.
• Develop high-quality Java services and REST or gRPC APIs.
• Use AI-native development approaches and AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot.
• Build secure, reliable, scalable software with strong testing and observability.
• Collaborate in a small, empowered, cross-functional team using agile practices.
• Support the integration of GenAI capabilities and continuous improvement across products.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of software development experience, preferably with SaaS or cloud solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Core Java and working knowledge of Spring.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
• Experience building microservices on cloud platforms, preferably AWS, as well as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing REST or gRPC APIs, relational database persistence, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Ability to use AI-assisted coding tools while applying sound judgment around code quality, testing, and security.

Nice to have

• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or CouchDB.
• Experience with TeamCity, Git-based workflows, or Kubernetes-related tooling.
• Experience with LLMs, LangChain, RAG, ReAct, prompt engineering, or production AI service integration.
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related field.
