TL;DR

Focus on interpreting fragmentation spectra, validating analytical methods, managing advanced instrumentation, and solving complex analytical challenges across CMC development projects.
Location: Montpellier, France; hybrid work with remote work up to 2 days per week
Salary: €54,400–€72,533 annually, with additional variable compensation

What you will do
- Lead the Montpellier mass spectrometry laboratory supporting analytical sciences and CMC development teams.
- Develop and implement HPLC/HRMS and GC/MS methods for structural characterization and quantification of nitrosamine and mutagenic impurities.
- Manage UPLC/HRMS and GC/MS equipment, including maintenance, qualification, availability, result reliability, and traceability.
- Interpret fragmentation mass spectra and review analytical studies performed by mass spectrometry experts.
- Prepare structural elucidation, impurity analysis, clinical, and submission documentation, and participate in regulatory audits as a mass spectrometry expert.
- Collaborate with analytical, CMC, and project management teams, present scientific findings, and potentially lead analytical project teams.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience as a high-resolution mass spectrometry specialist.
- Advanced knowledge of mass spectrometry for structural analysis and nitrosamine or mutagenic impurity quantification.
- Experience with Orbitrap, QTof, Triple Quad, MassLynx, Xcalibur, and Chromeleon.
- Expertise in interpreting full-scan and MSn fragmentation spectra, with knowledge of GMP, ICH, and pharmacopoeia requirements.
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry and strong team management, communication, decision-making, and presentation skills.
- Fluent English and French speaking, writing, reading, and presentation skills required.
