TL;DR
Compositor (VFX) (Nuke/VFX): Creating photoreal digital composites for film, television, and commercial projects with an accent on tracking, matte extraction, element integration, colour grading, and roto/paint work. Focus on building shots from brief to final, troubleshooting and optimising Nuke scripts, and developing pipeline workflows while collaborating with VFX supervisors and compositing leads.
Location: Hybrid in Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand. Candidates must currently be based in New Zealand and hold full rights to live and work there.

What you will do
- Build high-quality digital composites from brief to final across feature film, television, commercial, and other VFX work.
- Perform 2D and 3D tracking, matte extraction, element layering, colour grading, digital matte painting, and roto/paint work.
- Collaborate with VFX Supervisors, Compositing Leads, and the wider team on creative and technical decisions.
- Lead shots, mentor junior artists, and contribute to pipeline development and colour management workflows at more experienced levels.
- Develop compositing skills under senior guidance while contributing to real production work at earlier career stages.
Requirements
- Compositing experience or training in feature film, television, commercials, or a strong showreel for graduate and junior candidates.
- Working knowledge of Nuke appropriate to experience level, from core fundamentals to advanced Gizmos and Groups workflows, script troubleshooting, optimisation, and LookDev/template setup.
- Understanding of cinematography, photography, and colour science principles.
- Strong artistic judgement, communication skills, time management, and prioritisation under production pressure.
- Currently based in New Zealand with full rights to live and work there.
