Head of Engineering

Location: Toronto, Ontario, with a hybrid schedule requiring work from the downtown Toronto office three days per week

What you will do

• Lead and develop engineering leaders across architecture, client engineering, platform, infrastructure, and data engineering.
• Strengthen engineering planning, estimation, delivery, technical roadmapping, and incident response practices.
• Shape technical direction and architecture to support current and future platform experiences.
• Build data engineering foundations for personalization, content intelligence, experimentation, analytics, and AI.
• Guide timely technical decisions and tradeoffs involving speed, scalability, complexity, and maintainability.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, Data, Content, and Trust & Safety while developing autonomous, high-performing engineering teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading engineering teams and senior engineering leaders.
• Experience leading a multi-team engineering organization across engineering, infrastructure, and data.
• Strong technical depth and architectural judgment, including experience with modern data platforms, pipelines, and analytics infrastructure.
• Experience improving planning, estimation, roadmapping, delivery, ownership, and incident response.
• Strong people leadership, coaching, cross-functional collaboration, and organizational change management skills.
• No specific degree, license, or professional certification is required; equivalent practical experience is valued.

• Success developing engineering managers and senior technical leaders while increasing organizational autonomy.
