TL;DR
Heavy Equipment Operator Training Lead (Construction Automation): Building and leading an intensive operator training program for bulldozers, excavators, graders, and semi-autonomous equipment with an accent on hands-on instruction, safety, and objective performance certification. Focus on designing scalable curricula, evaluating trainees in the field, and developing standards for traditional, remote-controlled, and autonomous heavy equipment.
Location: Robot Ranch, Austin, TX; on-site. Must be willing to relocate to Austin, TX if not within commuting distance.

What you will do
- Design and lead a multi-week operator onboarding bootcamp from the ground up.
- Personally instruct and evaluate trainees operating bulldozers, excavators, graders, and other heavy civil equipment.
- Set measurable performance, discipline, safety, and certification standards for operators.
- Train operators on traditional equipment as well as semi-autonomous and remote-controlled systems.
- Build scalable training documentation, safety protocols, and certification processes.
- Refine the curriculum using field performance, incident data, and evolving equipment capabilities.
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience operating heavy civil equipment.
- Direct experience designing or running a heavy equipment operator training program, school, or certification curriculum.
- Experience training and evaluating others on safe and proficient equipment operation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to build structured, disciplined programs from scratch.
- Must be willing to relocate to Austin, TX if not within commuting distance.
- Must be willing to work extended hours when needed to support training cohorts and operational deadlines.
Nice to have
- Experience running or teaching at a heavy equipment operator school or union apprenticeship program.
- Military, first responder, or other high-performance training experience.
- Experience training operators on remote-controlled or semi-autonomous heavy equipment.
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.
- Experience building training programs in a fast-growing startup environment.
