Senior Software Engineer - LATAM (C#/.NET)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and support the greenfield VAaAST variant analysis platform for interpretation, reporting, and laboratory workflows.
• Build production software across the database, backend services and APIs, and front-end UI.
• Shape application architecture and technical design decisions for scalable, maintainable, and secure systems.
• Implement reliable network- and file-I/O workflows with retry and backoff strategies, structured logging, error handling, recovery, and alerting.
• Develop platform integrations and support technical modernization, production releases, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
• Review code, promote engineering standards, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including recent hands-on C#/.NET delivery.
• Full-stack experience with databases, backend services/APIs, and modern front-end frameworks such as Vue.js/PrimeVue or equivalent.
• Strong SQL and database design skills, including stored procedures, CTEs, indexing, constraints, derived values, and performance-oriented schemas.
• Experience contributing to architecture and technical design, translating requirements into secure, scalable, maintainable production software.
• Experience with Git/Azure DevOps, Jira/Confluence, code reviews, development standards, and design patterns.
• Ability to work from Escazu, Costa Rica.

Nice to have

• Experience with platform integrations, APIs, messaging, data exchange, CI/CD, automated deployments, and unit testing.
• Experience with observability tools such as Application Insights, Datadog, or ELK.
• Experience with laboratory, clinical, LIMS, variant analysis, digital pathology, or imaging systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, secure development, technical debt reduction, and regulatory requirements such as CAP/CLIA or 21 CFR Part 11.
• Experience working in Agile delivery and producing technical documentation, estimates, and implementation plans.
