Software Engineer in Test (Playwright/TypeScript)

Location: Remote, or based in Chania or Athens, Greece, or Limassol, Cyprus. Fully remote work is available, with occasional team meetings and onsite activities a few times per year.

What you will do

• Own automation outcomes for an assigned product area, participating in planning before implementation and assessing scope, risk, data, and environments.
• Choose the appropriate testing layer, including API, UI, cross-browser, responsive, smoke, and end-to-end testing.
• Build and evolve Playwright and TypeScript automation using page objects, reusable flows, typed API clients, and fixtures.
• Maintain fast, deterministic, and diagnosable CI end-to-end tests and fix flakiness at its root cause.
• Report coverage, risk, defects, traces, screenshots, and diagnostic information clearly to Product and Engineering.
• Direct AI agents for planning, test generation, debugging, and maintenance while building reusable agent skills and enforcing test conventions.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional Quality Assurance or Software Testing experience with strong automation ownership.
• Strong TypeScript and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development skills.
• Hands-on Playwright or comparable modern web automation experience and knowledge of the Page Object Model pattern.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, API and UI testing, cross-browser and responsive testing.
• Strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and test strategy skills.
• Proven experience directing AI agents for multi-step test engineering work and critically reviewing their output.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized test environments.
• Experience in EdTech, LMS, payments, ecommerce, analytics, mobile, or other complex SaaS products.
• Backend or API automation experience beyond UI flows.
• Familiarity with TestRail, Zephyr, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Open-source contributions, GitHub repositories, or relevant personal projects.
