QA Engineer - Quantum Computing (m/w/d)

Location: Siegen or Hamburg, Germany; relocation to one of these locations is required.

hirify.global develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology, combining laser-cooled ions, microwave control, and tailored magnetic fields.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end testing approach for the software platform, defining test levels, priorities, and quality objectives.
• Design risk-based test concepts from scratch across unit, integration, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Build and maintain test automation frameworks in code and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Perform exploratory and manual testing where automation is not appropriate.
• Establish quality gates, coverage expectations, and consistent bug-reporting practices.
• Collaborate with backend, platform, hardware, and experimental physics teams at software-machine boundaries.

Requirements

• Right to work in Germany and willingness to relocate to Siegen or Hamburg.
• At least 3 years of software quality assurance experience with ownership of test strategy.
• Ability to design test concepts for unfamiliar systems using appropriate levels, techniques, and priorities.
• Confident programming skills, preferably in Python, for building and maintaining automation.
• Hands-on experience with open-source testing frameworks such as pytest, Playwright, or Selenium, and CI/CD integration.
• Good written and spoken English, with strong collaboration and adaptability skills.

Nice to have

• Experience establishing QA functions or test strategies in early-stage or greenfield environments.
• Experience testing distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native services, performance, load, or security.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or laboratory and control-software testing.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent applied testing theory.
• Exposure to quantum computing or other deep-tech domains.
