Director, Finance and Operations

Location: Based in hirify.global's Addis Ababa, Ethiopia office, with periodic travel within Ethiopia to project sites and regional offices. Applicants must be authorized to work in Ethiopia; visa sponsorship is not available.

Fixed-term, project-funded position with an initial 12-month term through September 2027, subject to funding availability and potential extension.

What you will do

• Lead finance, operations, procurement, human resources, administration, compliance, and risk management across hirify.global's Ethiopia portfolio.
• Prepare and oversee rolling 12-month cash-flow forecasts, financing plans, budgets, expenditure forecasts, financial reports, audits, and statutory filings.
• Manage procurement and deployment of ICT equipment and infrastructure for 48 health facilities and central systems, including asset registration and inventory control.
• Oversee grants, subcontracts, partner agreements, consultants, vendors, contract modifications, milestone payments, and compliance monitoring.
• Direct office administration, travel management, personnel records, recruitment, property management, safety and security coordination, and operational support for events and field activities.
• Supervise the Finance and Operations Manager, Grants and Contracts Specialist, procurement staff, and wider in-country finance and operations teams.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Management, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, operations, administration, or project management, including senior leadership.
• Experience leading finance and operations for donor-funded international development programs and managing complex multi-project portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, internal controls, audit management, compliance, and risk management.
• Knowledge of Ethiopian financial, tax, labor, and regulatory requirements, with experience in Ethiopia or similar international development contexts strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with ERP, financial management, or enterprise systems.

Nice to have

• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent.
• Experience with U.S. Government-funded programs, including DOS or CDC programs.
• Experience with multilateral organizations such as the World Bank, United Nations agencies, or Global Fund.
