Software Engineer, Consumer Engineering

Salary: $164,000–$229,000 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Partner with Product Management, Design, Data Science, and iOS, Android, and Web engineers to translate user and business needs into reliable, low-latency technical solutions.
• Own the software lifecycle for major consumer product initiatives, including technical design, API contracts, development, testing, rollout, and observability.
• Design, build, and evaluate A/B experiments using data from tools such as BigQuery, HEX, and Firebase.
• Build and maintain scalable GraphQL, REST, and gRPC APIs and distributed backend services optimized for consumer applications.
• Improve engineering practices and developer workflows, mentor teammates, and use AI-integrated tools to support efficient delivery.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on backend development experience with large-scale distributed serving systems in high-concurrency environments.
• Proficiency in Go or Python; experience with Java, Kotlin, Rust, or C++ is also relevant.
• Expertise in designing and maintaining scalable APIs with GraphQL, REST, or gRPC.
• Experience with high-throughput caching layers and distributed datastores such as Redis, Cassandra, or PostgreSQL.
• Ability to work collaboratively in fully remote or hybrid environments and make data-informed engineering decisions.
• Must be eligible to work remotely from the United States.
