Senior or Staff Qualitative UX Researcher (AI)

Location: On-site in Los Angeles, with five days per week at the Venice Beach office. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Some travel is required for offsites and field research.

Salary: $176,000–$220,000 annual base salary plus target equity.

Suno is a consumer entertainment product company building an AI-powered music creation platform for people with a wide range of ages and musical experience.

What you will do

• Own the foundational qualitative research agenda for mobile music creation, including ethnography, diary studies, longitudinal studies, in-context observation, and concept research.
• Research new creators across a wide age range, including early childhood and early elementary participants, using developmentally appropriate methods.
• Lead in-person, in-home, in-field, household, and family research sessions while maintaining participant care, guardian consent, and assent standards.
• Partner closely with the mobile product manager, designer, engineers, data science, and growth teams to influence product decisions, acquisition, onboarding, and retention.
• Turn findings into reusable segmentations, journey and jobs-to-be-done frameworks, opportunity maps, and design principles.
• Mentor researchers, review study designs, and raise the quality bar for qualitative research as a senior individual contributor.

Requirements

• 7+ years of industry UX research experience with deep specialization in qualitative methods and consumer mobile products.
• Proven ability to conduct research that changes strategy, roadmap decisions, product bets, or product direction.
• Experience researching participants across a very wide age range, including pre-readers and early readers, with developmentally appropriate methods.
• Experience running in-person research with families, including in-home and in-context sessions with multiple participants, consent, and assent workflows.
• Strong methodological judgment, quantitative fluency, survey design skills, and the ability to work effectively with data scientists and senior stakeholders.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and willing to work five days per week at the Venice Beach office.

Nice to have

• PhD in HCI, Human-Centered Computing, Psychology, Learning Sciences, or a related field combined with industry experience.
• Startup, founder, or first-researcher experience.
• Experience with safety, trust, wellbeing, consumer audio, music, social products, AI, or generative products.
• Knowledge of a suitable UX research lab or in-person session space in Los Angeles.
