Team Lead, Android Core Product (Android)

Location: Remote; hirify.global operates in a 100% distributed setting with no office.

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 USD per year for candidates based in the United States, plus bonus and stock depending on experience.

What you will do

• Own major Android core-product features from product decisions through release while writing and reviewing production code.
• Maintain reliability metrics, handle critical issues, and own feature releases and nightly builds for QA.
• Consolidate shared components, reduce duplicate implementations, and improve the maintainability of the codebase.
• Increase automated verification and reduce manual intervention required for reliable releases.
• Unblock engineers, run planning, define appropriate review levels, and improve team ways of working.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering while mentoring early-career engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product area while remaining hands-on.
• Strong Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit skills.
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
• Understanding of testing strategy, including what should and should not be covered by automated tests.
• Experience introducing engineering practices or shared solutions that continued to be used by the team.
• Excellent communication skills, product design intuition, user empathy, and the ability to improve Android UI and UX beyond the specification.

Nice to have

• Experience building, maintaining, or contributing to open-source Android projects.
• Experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS.
