Postdoctoral Research Associate-1 (Parasitology)

Location: Full-time onsite in College Station, Texas, United States. The role may include field work, international travel, work beyond normal office hours, and weekend work.

Salary: $4,833.34 monthly minimum, commensurate with qualifications.

What you will do

• Develop and implement research projects involving classical and molecular parasitology.
• Design, optimize, and validate nucleic acid-based parasite detection assays, including primer, probe, and multiplex panel development.
• Perform DNA and RNA extraction, parasite culture, PCR, real-time PCR, ELISA, microscopy, and other diagnostic laboratory testing.
• Manage research data pipelines, laboratory records, validation documentation, quantitative analyses, and data integrity.
• Interpret results and prepare peer-reviewed manuscripts, technical reports, presentations, and sponsor updates.
• Train and provide quality control for graduate, undergraduate, DVM students, and other personnel.

Requirements

• PhD in Biomedical or Veterinary Sciences, Parasitology, Molecular Biology, Entomology, or a related field.
• Strong communication, independent working, creativity, motivation, multitasking, and collaboration skills.
• Experience or expertise in classical and molecular parasitology diagnostic techniques.
• Ability to handle biological samples, including parasite specimens, feces, blood, and serum.
• Export-control authorization is required before employment begins.
• The position is security-sensitive and requires a criminal history investigation and compliance with applicable Texas and federal requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with digital PCR, multiplex assay design, nanopore-based detection, laboratory animals, statistical methods, bioinformatics, or parasite life-cycle maintenance.
• Peer-reviewed publications in parasitology.
• Experience with animal handling and sample collection.
