Scientist 1 (Chemistry / Biochemistry)

What you will do

• Develop and characterize new materials and surface chemistries for sequencing and library preparation technologies.
• Perform experiments across a broad range of techniques and troubleshoot technical issues with guidance.
• Plan and conduct controlled experiments, analyze results, and communicate data-driven conclusions.
• Support internal research projects in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare reports, updates, and project summaries.

Requirements

• B.Sc. or B.Eng. in chemistry, biochemistry, biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, biomaterials, or an equivalent discipline.
• Approximately 0–2 years of relevant hands-on laboratory experience in an academic or industrial research setting.
• Ability to execute accurate experiments, maintain strong documentation and data quality, and follow laboratory safety practices.
• Ability to design experiments with appropriate controls and contribute to troubleshooting under guidance.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills for working across disciplines and presenting experimental results.

Nice to have

• Experience in surface chemistry, including modification or functionalization of inorganic or polymer surfaces.
• Knowledge of or hands-on experience with bioconjugation chemistry.
• Experience with fluorescence-based assays, DNA biochemistry, PCR, or qPCR.
• Industrial research experience and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to new projects.
