Project Manager (Optical Networking)

Location: Ottawa, Canada; up to 10% domestic and international travel required.

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional product development projects from concept through production release.
• Build and maintain schedules, milestones, resource plans, deliverables, and project metrics.
• Coordinate hardware, firmware, software, mechanical, test, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing activities.
• Manage risks, issues, scope changes, dependencies, and project execution against cost, schedule, scope, and quality objectives.
• Facilitate technical and design reviews, phase-gate activities, stakeholder meetings, and executive-level project updates.
• Support product roadmap planning, new product introduction, production readiness, customer commitments, and process improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience leading cross-functional product development projects.
• Experience with hardware, optical networking, telecommunications, or technology-focused development programs.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, influence teams without direct authority, resolve problems, and communicate with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Knowledge of product development lifecycle processes and project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, or Smartsheet.
• Strong organizational, planning, analytical, presentation, and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to have

• Engineering master’s degree, PMP certification, or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience with optical transceivers, optical networking systems, telecommunications infrastructure, embedded systems, or hardware verification and qualification.
• Knowledge of Agile, Stage-Gate, and hybrid product development methodologies.
• Experience with NPI, manufacturing transitions, and geographically distributed engineering teams.
