What you will do
- Lead the Austrian and Swiss branches with accountability for underwriting discipline, portfolio quality, sustainable growth, and profitability.
- Own the P&L for both markets and develop country strategies and annual financial plans.
- Steer broker distribution, retention, new production, client relationships, and market positioning.
- Oversee Underwriting, Claims, Distribution, and support functions while driving operational improvement and cost discipline.
- Ensure governance, controls, regulatory compliance, and effective engagement with regulators and external stakeholders.
- Lead hiring, succession planning, leadership development, performance management, and culture building across both countries.
Requirements
- Proven financial and operational success in general insurance, including profitable growth and leadership through change.
- Significant insurance industry experience and recognized expertise in one or more insurance product lines.
- Several years of experience leading country operations or large functional or product teams within the DACH region.
- Experience working successfully within an international insurance carrier and navigating cross-border complexity.
- Strong executive presence, stakeholder influence, strategic leadership, and experience operating in complex matrix structures.
- Fluency in written and spoken German and English is required.
