Senior Java Backend Developer

Location: Kaunas, Lithuania; required to work from the Kaunas office at least 3 days per week.

Salary: €3,330–€6,660 gross monthly, plus annual bonuses of approximately 10% of annual salary and a Booking Holdings RSU package worth $20,000 gross.

hirify.global is a travel search engine within Booking Holdings, connecting travelers with flights, hotels, rental cars, vacation packages, and corporate travel services.

What you will do

• Design and maintain scalable backend search capabilities focused on speed, reliability, relevance, and user experience.
• Own complex technical solutions from design through operational support.
• Guide architecture discussions and maintain high engineering standards.
• Collaborate with commercial, data, and engineering teams to deliver robust solutions.
• Resolve production issues, improve system reliability, and reduce technical debt.
• Mentor engineers and improve testing, observability, CI/CD, and development practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with the Java ecosystem and Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring Security.
• Expertise in high-throughput data environments using PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Education in Computer Science or a related field.
• Availability to work from the Kaunas office at least 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI or LLM technologies.
• Exposure to Elasticsearch or similar search technologies.
