TL;DR
Senior Data Scientist (AI/ML): Building personalised experiences for an online vehicle marketplace through behavioural analysis, recommendation and ranking models, and end-to-end machine learning with an accent on customer intent, experimentation, and measurable commercial outcomes. Focus on designing offline and online evaluations, solving cold-start and relevance challenges, and productionising reproducible models with AWS and modern data platforms.

What you will do
- Lead end-to-end data science initiatives from problem definition and exploratory analysis to validated and productionised solutions.
- Analyse behavioural, automotive, and business data to identify patterns and communicate insights through visualisations and data storytelling.
- Develop recommendation, ranking, personalisation, customer-intent, and behavioural models, including candidate generation and cold-start strategies.
- Design offline and online evaluations, establish baselines and success measures, and run experiments such as A/B tests.
- Apply standards for model development, evaluation, reproducibility, documentation, and governance.
- Collaborate with Technology, Data, Product, and Commercial stakeholders to align priorities and support adoption of solutions.
Requirements
- Substantial hands-on experience applying statistical modelling and machine learning to complex customer or business problems.
- Experience delivering end-to-end data science solutions with measurable impact.
- Strong understanding of experimentation, offline and online testing, baselines, and connecting model performance with commercial outcomes.
- Advanced programming skills for preparing large datasets and developing production-quality modelling code.
- Familiarity with AWS, including SageMaker, Snowflake, Databricks, and model-lifecycle platforms such as MLflow and Metaflow.
- Full-time Australian working rights and successful completion of a National Police Record check are required.
Nice to have
- Domain expertise in recommendation, ranking, and personalisation.
- Experience with two-tower architectures, semantic embeddings, sequence modelling, or cold-start strategies.
