Senior Data Engineer / Engineering Lead (Microsoft Fabric)

Location: New Zealand (hybrid / flexible)

What you will do

• Design and deliver production-grade data products across Microsoft Fabric.
• Implement Medallion Architecture across Fabric and OneLake.
• Build scalable pipelines with Fabric Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, and PySpark.
• Develop ingestion and ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Support data lineage, metadata, security, and governance through Microsoft Purview.
• Validate Fabric capacity, workspace configuration, and platform readiness while collaborating with architects and technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Lakehouses, Dataflows Gen2, and Fabric Pipelines.
• Strong skills in PySpark, Python, T-SQL, and Delta Lake.
• Experience with Medallion Architecture and dimensional modelling.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview.
• Experience in enterprise or public sector data environments.
• Ability to work in a hybrid/flexible arrangement in New Zealand.

Nice to have

• Experience with Matillion.
