Staff Product Manager - Data Products (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)

Salary: $260,000–$300,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Own the data-as-a-product roadmap for agentic data and reinforcement learning environments.
• Define dataset skills, capabilities, benchmarks, evaluations, and related product areas with research and academic partners.
• Build product frameworks from zero, including prioritization models, roadmap artifacts, and intake processes.
• Work across research, GTM, and operations to shape data strategy and drive decisions through influence.
• Conduct discovery with technical buyers and convert frontier lab needs into roadmap commitments.
• Define success metrics, market sizing, and unit economics for data programs.

Requirements

• 8+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years at senior or staff level owning a roadmap end to end; alternatively, 6+ years with a PhD or research background in machine learning.
• 4–6 years of experience shaping technical roadmaps and working with researchers as stakeholders.
• Strong AI and machine learning fluency, including LLM post-training, SFT, preference data, RLHF/RLAIF, RLVR, reward modeling, and data composition.
• Experience owning technical data products such as datasets, benchmarks, evaluations, annotation pipelines, or labeled corpora delivered to external users.
• Familiarity with agentic systems and evaluation methods, including coding, computer-use, tool-use, and long-horizon task evaluations.
• Strong analytical, technical, written, and cross-functional communication skills, with comfort reading research papers and reasoning about end-to-end data pipelines.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI data or frontier-lab data, post-training, or evaluation organizations.
• Experience building RL environments, verifiable rewards, agentic coding or computer-use datasets, or human-in-the-loop data pipelines.
• Hands-on ability to write Python, query data, run models, and prototype evaluations.
• Experience with academic partnerships, data contracts, pricing and packaging, or competitive intelligence.
• Published research, open-source datasets or benchmarks, or public technical writing.
