Federal Tax Associate (Fall 2027/Winter 2028)

Location: Kansas City, United States; travel to assigned client locations may be required

Salary: $61,600–$73,500 per year

What you will do

• Prepare federal and state and local tax returns for high-net-worth families, closely held businesses, estates, trusts, and private foundations.
• Complete tax planning and research while staying current on legislation relevant to Private Client Service clients.
• Build client relationships by understanding business needs and challenges.
• Develop knowledge of reporting requirements for different entity structures and the tax compliance process.
• Contribute to tax strategies intended to reduce clients’ effective tax rates.
• Write memoranda and other documentation on complex tax issues and complete work for review.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
• Accounting major.
• Access to reliable transportation for travel to assigned client locations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively on a team and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Progress toward completion of the CPA exam.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel proficiency.
