Senior Software Engineer, Field Survey Applications (Java/C++)

Location: Hybrid role with three days per week in the office, preferably in Concordia sulla Secchia (Modena) or Ancona, Italy.

Salary: €55,000–€65,000 gross annually, based on skills and experience, plus a variable bonus.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain field survey applications using Java, C++, and related technologies.
• Build software modules connecting applications with hirify.global and third-party surveying equipment, including GNSS receivers and robotic total stations.
• Develop solutions for Android, Windows, Linux, and iOS platforms.
• Collaborate with project managers, team leaders, and software teams to plan delivery schedules and ensure high-quality execution.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical and application issues while supporting existing mature software.
• Contribute to new features, enhancements, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of software processes.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software development experience with strong Java and/or C++ skills.
• Hands-on Android development experience, including Android Studio.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming, software design principles, algorithms, data structures, and multithreading.
• Experience with development tools, version control, debugging, testing, documentation, JIRA, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Ability to work in cross-functional engineering environments and communicate effectively in English.
• Problem-solving mindset, ownership of technical topics, and ability to guide others when needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with C++20, Boost, Asio, gRPC, Protobuf, MQTT, NTRIP, RTCM, NMEA, cryptography, static analysis, memory optimization, C++ templates, SQL, lock-free programming, Docker, or geometry.
