TL;DR
Legal Counsel - Contracts (Fintech): Drafting and negotiating complex cross-border commercial agreements for a global payments infrastructure business with an accent on commercial risk, data protection, and fintech regulatory requirements. Focus on building contract templates and playbooks, advising cross-functional teams, and embedding AML, sanctions, privacy, and compliance provisions into commercial terms.
Location: Montevideo, Uruguay; hybrid workplace

What you will do
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including MSAs, SOWs, vendor agreements, NDAs, DPAs, partnership agreements, guarantees, and related schedules.
- Advise commercial teams on legal risk, practical alternatives, and deal execution.
- Create and improve contract templates, clause libraries, playbooks, and negotiation guidance.
- Partner with Product, Commercial, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and InfoSec on go-to-market initiatives.
- Support data privacy contracting, including DPAs, data transfer mechanisms, subprocessors, and security schedules.
- Incorporate payments, fintech, consumer protection, AML, and sanctions requirements into commercial terms.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 5–7 years of professional experience in a law firm or in-house role.
- Experience in financial services, fintech, technology-enabled businesses, and cross-border commercial contracts.
- Knowledge of commercial, contractual, compliance, GDPR, and data protection matters.
- Experience with DPAs, data transfers, security annexes, and related contracting topics.
- Fluent written and spoken English required.
- Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, judgment, and practical problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with payments, financial services, fintech, online platforms, or e-commerce contracting.
- French or another European language.
- Experience with CLM, e-signature, CRM, contract redlining, collaboration, data, or AI tools.
