TL;DR
Head of Legal (iGaming): Leading the legal function for an international iGaming business across licensing, corporate matters, contracts, compliance, data protection, and legal risk management with an accent on cross-border gambling regulation and commercial legal operations. Focus on managing licensing frameworks, building the internal Legal function, negotiating complex provider and payment agreements, and translating regulatory uncertainty into practical business solutions.

What you will do
- Lead legal and regulatory support for existing and new markets, including iGaming licence applications, renewals, expansions, reporting, and communication with authorities.
- Assess gambling, taxation, local-presence, advertising, and promotional requirements across new jurisdictions.
- Oversee corporate structures, entity maintenance, ownership changes, intercompany arrangements, KYC, and tax-related matters.
- Own contracting across gaming and payment providers, aggregators, KYC and anti-fraud vendors, SaaS providers, affiliates, media partners, employment and B2B relationships, NDAs, and IP matters.
- Oversee AML/CFT, KYC/KYB, sanctions compliance, GDPR, responsible gaming documentation, disputes, asset protection, and brand enforcement.
- Build and develop the internal Legal function while advising executive leadership and coordinating external law firms, advisers, budgets, and legal spend.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on legal practice in the iGaming sector, including at least 2 years leading a legal function or working independently as a sole in-house lawyer.
- University-level legal education and knowledge of cross-border corporate and private international law, international structures, jurisdiction, governing law, and international contracts.
- Practical knowledge of online gambling regulation and licensing frameworks, including Curaçao, Malta, Anjouan, or comparable jurisdictions.
- Strong experience with gaming and payment provider contracts, bonus mechanics, AML/KYC, GDPR, contract negotiation, and end-to-end agreement management.
- C1+ English for negotiations, drafting, and correspondence, plus fluent or native Russian.
Nice to have
- Experience taking an iGaming licence from initial application through approval.
- Experience with cryptocurrency-based payment flows and gambling advertising regulations.
- Professional qualification or admission to legal practice in an applicable jurisdiction.
