TL;DR
Mobile Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) (Electrical Maintenance/Building Services): Completing planned preventive maintenance, inspections, installations, testing, and electrical upgrades across client sites in the Midlands and occasionally elsewhere, with an accent on SFG20 compliance, critical-environment power, and commercial building systems. Focus on fault diagnosis, EICR certification, subcontractor oversight, RAMS compliance, and safe delivery of out-of-hours call-out services.
Location: Manchester, UK; mobile work across sites in the Midlands, with occasional work outside the area

What you will do
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and six-monthly planned preventive maintenance tasks and inspections in line with SFG20.
- Maintain electrical plant, systems, switchgear, earthing systems, and building services to industry standards.
- Conduct electrical installations, upgrades, testing, inspections, EICRs, and Minor Works certification in line with BS7671.
- Diagnose faults across critical-environment power, UPS, standby power, BMS, HVAC, fire alarms, emergency lighting, and related systems.
- Coordinate client communication, subcontractor activities, service requests, site inspections, documentation, and SLA delivery.
- Support RAMS, QHSE, EHSQ, audit, safety, and out-of-hours call-out requirements.
Requirements
- Recognized third-level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification or equivalent, or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Strong experience in electrical maintenance, PPM regimes, SFG20, fault finding, and commercial electrical systems.
- Experience with BMS controls, HVAC, UPS, standby power, lifts, boilers, LV/HV systems, switchgear, and earthing.
- Ability to work independently, manage time, communicate with clients, and participate in standby and call-out activities.
Nice to have
- 2391, 2394, or 2395 Testing and Inspection qualification.
- Experience with BMS and additional mechanical building services such as HVAC or plumbing.
- IPAF, PASMA, or ECS Card.
