What you will do

  • Develop perception software for the custom-built Ghost robot using computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, and control algorithms.
  • Use RGB, depth, and other sensor data from deployed robots to improve perception performance in real-world store environments.
  • Research, implement, and refine algorithms for object detection, segmentation, keypoint detection, 3D pose estimation, and reconstruction.
  • Optimize and compress deployed models for speed, latency, and reliable operation on constrained hardware.
  • Collect data, analyze quantitative outcomes, debug issues, and continuously improve algorithm success rates.
  • Collaborate with automation engineers, convert company objectives into actionable tasks, and manage delivery timelines.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience developing perception systems or equivalent academic research experience.
  • Extensive experience with low-level computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning, including implementing state-of-the-art methods from scratch.
  • Strong Python skills and experience with PyTorch, OpenCV, NumPy, and SciKit.
  • Experience with RGB and depth sensors or multi-sensor configurations such as RGB and LiDAR.
  • Experience with data augmentation and customization of deep learning applications for detection, segmentation, keypoints, or 3D pose estimation.
  • Experience optimizing model performance, including network layer optimization, TensorRT, or TorchScript.

Nice to have

  • Modern C++ development experience and familiarity with ROS.
  • Knowledge of camera calibration, hand-eye calibration, manipulators, motion planning, signal processing, or network communication.
  • Experience with Open3D, Point Cloud Library, MMDetection, FastAI, synthetic dataset generation, or domain randomization.
  • Research experience in computer vision, AI, or robotics, including publications at venues such as CVPR or ICRA.
  • Startup or fast-paced engineering experience.
