Backend Engineer (Go)

Location: Reykjavík, Iceland; work from the Reykjavík office

What you will do

• Design and implement backend services in Go using clean architecture principles.
• Build RESTful APIs for complex cloud resource management operations.
• Design PostgreSQL data models and efficient queries.
• Develop event-driven systems for asynchronous processing and real-time updates.
• Integrate services with AWS, Azure, and GCP APIs.
• Write comprehensive tests, participate in code reviews, and contribute to architectural decisions.

Requirements

• Production experience and strong proficiency in Go.
• Solid knowledge of RESTful API design, web services, relational databases, and PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized deployments.
• Understanding of distributed systems, strong problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables, and communicate effectively in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, multi-tenant systems, and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, observability tools, and security practices such as authentication, authorization, and mTLS.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor.
