Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Onsite in Boston, Massachusetts, United States

Annual salary: $180,000–$240,000

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs for tracing, monitoring, and evaluation workflows.
• Collaborate on architecture for performant and maintainable systems.
• Optimize storage and query performance for high-volume observability and evaluation data.
• Improve reliability through testing, monitoring, and alerting.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.
• Work with full-stack engineers, product managers, and product designers to launch new features.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional backend engineering experience on highly complex products.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages or frameworks, ideally Python and/or Go.
• Strong understanding of API design and reliable data services.
• Experience with high-throughput, mission-critical systems and backend performance optimization.
• Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, customer centricity, and ownership.
• Ability to work onsite in Boston, Massachusetts.

Nice to have

• Experience with Postgres, Redis, ClickHouse, or cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with full-stack or frontend engineering, performance tuning, and production debugging.
