Core Software Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA (On-site)

Compensation: $180,000 – $350,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Build detection, inference, state, and delivery systems for core product experiences.
• Instrument and analyze difficult technical problems before implementing solutions.
• Establish evidence of correctness for systems where ground truth is unavailable.
• Make principled tradeoffs across imperfect signals, edge cases, and user impact.
• Turn persistent quality issues into comprehensible, repeatable systems.
• Partner with product and platform teams to define system architecture and placement.

Requirements

• Proven experience shipping complex systems with interacting failure modes.
• Experience owning systems where correctness was difficult to observe.
• Ability to define and measure quality metrics in ambiguous scenarios.
• Strong systems thinking combined with product intuition and user empathy.
• Hands-on implementation experience and a first-principles approach to problem-solving.
• Must be able to work on-site in San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Experience with signal processing, fraud detection, ranking, or anomaly detection.
• Experience with ML evaluation techniques.
