Staff Software Engineer (macOS Platform)

Location: San Francisco or remote within the US; on-site role

Salary: $270,000–$350,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Own the architecture of the macOS platform and build the screen-context engine.
• Develop reliable foundations for dictation, Notetaker, Instruct Mode, and future products.
• Set technical direction across accessibility, native integrations, memory, state, and background behavior.
• Solve difficult performance, correctness, and cross-application failures.
• Expand screen understanding while protecting performance and user privacy.
• Create durable OS-specific foundations that other engineers can extend.

Requirements

• Experience designing a system or platform that other engineers successfully built on.
• Recent production experience shipping meaningful desktop application code.
• Ability to debug unfamiliar systems from first principles.
• Experience owning a quality or user-experience metric, not only a feature roadmap.
• Ability to turn ambiguous technical problems into clear direction for a team.

Nice to have

• Experience with voice products, machine learning, Electron, accessibility APIs, or macOS.
