Senior Android Engineer (AI): Building member-facing Android health features and reusable platform foundations for personalized insights with an accent on Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, scalable architecture, and AI service integration. Focus on owning AI-powered features end to end, designing reusable components and APIs, and improving performance, testing, and maintainability across the Android codebase.

Location: Hybrid/on-site in Helsinki or Oulu, or remote from Finland

Health technology products combine a wearable ring and connected app to provide personalized insights on readiness, activity, sleep, and wellness.

What you will do

  • Build member-facing Android experiences that deliver AI-powered health insights and guidance.
  • Own AI-powered features end to end, from prototyping through production, iteration, and client integration with backend AI services.
  • Develop responsive and scalable features with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
  • Build reusable design-system components, shared libraries, and platform foundations for other squads.
  • Improve code quality, performance, maintainability, CI performance, and Android engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with product, design, backend, data science, research, and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience shipping Android applications.
  • Deep experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, modern Android architectures such as MVVM or MVI, and Android platform APIs.
  • Experience building complex user-facing features, reusable UI components, and maintainable, performant, testable code.
  • Experience with Git, branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, unit testing, instrumentation testing, Compose testing, and mobile CI.
  • Strong cross-functional communication, analytical problem-solving, adaptability, and end-to-end ownership.
  • For remote work, candidates must be based in Finland; hybrid or on-site work is available in Helsinki or Oulu.

Nice to have

  • Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, performance profiling, app startup optimization, and persistence technologies such as Room, SQLDelight, or Proto DataStore.
  • Experience with GenAI or LLM-powered product features and AI backend integrations.
  • Experience maintaining shared design systems, component libraries, SDKs, widgets, or other Android platform integrations.
  • Cross-platform development, mentoring, asynchronous collaboration across countries and time zones, or health, wellness, and fitness products.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, systems architecture, performance optimization, or experience shipping personal Android apps.
