Public Benefit Specialist (Healthcare Revenue Cycle)

Location: On-site at HSHS - St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham, Illinois. Applicants must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States.

Salary: $18.65–$20.50, based on experience.

What you will do

• Review uninsured and under-insured patients for Medicaid and financial assistance eligibility.
• Initiate and coordinate applications, collecting required documents from patients.
• Track submitted applications through determination and update insurance information.
• Support timely billing and financial adjustment processing.
• Document patient interactions and application activity in patient accounting systems.
• Collaborate with Medicaid caseworkers and revenue cycle departments.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of healthcare experience involving patient interactions about hospital financial matters.
• High school diploma or GED; relevant post-secondary education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Understanding of revenue cycle processes, including admissions, billing, payments, and denials.
• Knowledge of health insurance requirements, authorizations, benefits verification, medical terminology, or CPT and procedure codes.
• CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.
