TL;DR
Underwriter - Commercial Lines (Product Liability) (Commercial Insurance): Analyzing E&S Product Liability submissions from broker partners, determining risk eligibility, and setting limits, attachment points, pricing, and terms with an accent on risk selection, underwriting authority, and policy coverage. Focus on evaluating commercial liability risks, documenting underwriting decisions, building broker relationships, and supporting the small to medium-sized Products Liability market.

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio, United States; hybrid. Monthly travel is required to meet assigned brokers in the region.

What you will do

  • Analyze E&S Product Liability submissions from broker partners and determine risk eligibility.
  • Set appropriate limits, attachment points, pricing, and policy terms.
  • Execute Primary General Liability business plans and support growth in the small to medium-sized Products Liability market.
  • Ensure risks comply with delegated authority, underwriting standards, risk selection, peer review, and pricing methodologies.
  • Provide accurate customer service, document underwriting decisions, and build broker relationships.
  • Perform underwriting activities in accordance with internal policies, applicable regulations, governance requirements, and company values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a Risk Management and Insurance major, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 1 year of Commercial Insurance Underwriting experience.
  • Knowledge of General Liability, Construction, Real Estate, Service Providers, Products Liability, coverage, pricing, and rating methodologies.
  • Understanding of policy wordings, clauses, insurance company operations, underwriting tools, and the producer and competitor marketplace.
  • Ability to travel monthly to meet assigned brokers in the region.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Industry designation such as CPCU, CRM, ARM, or CIC, achieved or in progress.
